We are taken through a journey to the top of the mountain. On the way, Anna explains different challenges that she faces, and how she and her friend overcome them. She contrasts this narrative with popular media's demonstration of always having a male leading the journey and encourages other women to conquer their mountains to become empowered. Anna Margaret Clyburn is a freshman studying political science, history, and language at Rice University. She traveled with her best friend over the summer, learning important lessons not only about women’s empowerment, but also about the intricacies of public transportation and finding vegan food in unlikely places. She is an optimist who hopes to shape public policy one day, but for now enjoys working as a Student Association Senator and as a Peta2 campus representative. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
