We spent hours exploring the archeological site, Monte Albán in Oaxaca. On our journey as digital nomads (Since Nov 2020) we have encountered quite a few historical sites and they never fail to fascinate us. This site reminded me quite a bit of Teotihuacán which is located on the outskirts of Mexico City. Even though much is a mystery, there is more and more that IS known about the history of the people here and it is not for the faint of heart. The site is massive and even if you don't spring for a private guide that you can find at the entry, you can walk around and read informational plaques that are located at the base of every structure and artifact. We will more than likely go back and do a tour, but we did a self guided trek around today beacuse we were taking so many pictures,
Don't bring any sort of tripod or gimbal, you will not be allowed to use it. I was allowed my professional camera, as long as it was not accompanyed by any attachments.
The cost for entry was $85 pesos per person (4.25 US$) and an additional $50 (2.50 US$) to use my video camera.
There was a ramp that made much of the grounds near the pyramids wheelchair accessible.
This was another pleasant surprise, we did not expect it to be so massive, it was really impressive. I will post more facts and interesting information all about this site, how to get there and some incredible pictures soon.
