After living in Bali for 7 weeks now, I can give you an interim status of our monthly expenses. Are you ready for the madness? ? Rent: 50.000.000 IDR Childcare: 20.000.000 IDR Restaurants: 20.000.000 IDR Fun/Activities/Sports: IDR 3.000.000 IDR Groceries: 2.800.000 IDR Transportation: 5.200.000 IDR _________________________ 100,100,000 IDR (6,600 USD) That is soooo much for a Southeast Asian country.? We have never had such high rental expenses. So far our rents have been around 1,000 USD/month. ? To all who want to travel to Bali, I can only advise: Take your time and look for something affordable outside of tourist hotspots! ? Unfortunately, as a family, we always have to go by the location of the schools when it comes to house hunting. But if you have the possibility, rather live further outside and do not support this rent madness! ??? *Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy to pay a high price for a luxurious villa. But not for a moldy one with bad internet. ?
