Ron Atkinson made sure Barcelona stayed in a noisy city centre hotel the night before the game to unsettle them. He later laughed that Maradona "liked all that and joined in."

Bryan Robson again — pounced after the Barcelona keeper fumbled a back pass early in the second half, levelling the tie on aggregate
Frank Stapleton — lashed home after a Norman Whiteside header fell perfectly to him, just three minutes later

58,000 fans packed Old Trafford — some had even climbed the floodlights just to get a view. Robson said the noise was so loud it felt like the pitch was shaking.

The crowd were still carrying Robson around the stadium. The players couldn't even get into the dressing room for a full 15 minutes.
