We explore two completely different izakaya experiences in Tokyo — one modern, the other a cozy neighborhood yakitori spot — each with its own vibe and surprises.
Kakuuchi KAN in Toranomon Hills . It looks upscale, but shocker — drinks are cheap. There’s a killer sake selection, local craft beer, and you can get your photo printed on your beer foam! Food is great here too, especially their Oden and Beef Tendon Skewers.
Address: 2‑6‑3 Toranomon, Minato‑ku, Tokyo (Toranomon Hills Station Tower B2F)

Yakitori Daikichi (Heiwadai-ten) in Nerima — this newer location is a franchise, but it truly feels like a mom & pop shop. The owners are warm, the yakitori is solid, with everything on the menu tasting good and prices are low.
Address: 4‑21‑8 Heiwadai, Nerima‑ku, Tokyo — about a 5‑minute walk from Heiwadai Station

We love them both — but they couldn’t be more different. Which izakaya matches your vibe? Sleek and quirky or cozy and classic? Let us know in the comments ⬇.
