I wanted to make a special video to showcase how beautiful the area of Roma Norte and Condesa are. Mexico City is the nicest city I have ever been to. There is lush nature everywhere. The city feels magical.
The reason for my trip was to check and see if I would want to live here sometime as a digital nomad. For you guys that don’t know, I plan on being a digital nomad and living across the world in different places. I was seeing if Mexico City would fit that bill.
Overall, I think Mexico City is a very good option for remote workers, but there are tradeoffs. I will discuss several of those.
First, Mexico City as you can see is a very beautiful place. It also has one of the best food scenes I have ever been to in a city. The food is superb. The people are very nice and it is a very safe area. A woman would feel comfortable walking around here at night.
The downside I find is the cafes aren’t as comfortable to work at like in Southeast Asia. There usually isn’t much seating available. The cafes are more made to socialize a bit, then head out. But, you can find some that are better than others and make it work.
The cost of living is higher here than other Latin American spots and Southeast Asia. Air BnBs may be $1000-1200/month on the low end for a 1-month rental. Eating out seems to be more in the $8-12 range. In Southeast Asia for example, you can easily pay $300-600 monthly rent and have $2-5 meals. As far as a city goes though, it is very affordable compared to the United States.
I think Mexico City would be an excellent choice for a retiree, that wants a cheaper cost of living, but all the comforts they may expect. I think I will definitely be back to spend more time here, but probably a little later in life.
