How to get to the Las Vegas of Asia ????

Part 1 of our Macau series ????????

Similar to Hong Kong, hotels in Macau can be expensive. And while many people stay in Hong Kong and day trip to Macau, Hong Kong hotels are also really expensive and tiny. We didn’t want to pay for such expensive hotels, so we decided to stay in Shenzhen, China where you can save 50-75% of the costs and get more space! ????

The process to day trip from Shenzhen to Macau though was easy. We took a one hour ferry from Shenzhen's Shekou Port to Macau's Taipa Port and after arriving, we went through both China exit immigration and Macau immigration, which only took 5-10 minutes total! Even faster than it took us to go through immigration in Hong Kong (which was fast and efficient itself) ⛴️

Here are a few things we did to make the commute as easy as possible:
1️⃣Look for lodging near the Shenzhen ferry station to minimize additional commute times
2️⃣We bought our ferry tickets at least a day or two in advance on the WeChat mini program 招商邮轮.
3️⃣Make sure to have your passport. Your ferry tickets will be linked to your passport and you’ll also need it for immigrations

For us, we wanted to explore Macau, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong from one cheap base, which is why we day tripped from Shenzhen. If you only want to explore Macau, another option would be to find housing in Zhuhai, China. That would be even closer to Macau while offering cheap lodging costs too ????

Note - Make sure you have any necessary visas to travel to China and Macau.
