The creation story describes Yahweh as the uncreated Creator who brings into existence the spiritual and physical realms. He establishes a garden called Eden, portrayed as a divine dwelling place set atop a mountain. In ancient Near Eastern and early Hebrew thought, mountains were seen as cosmic, sacred spaces—places where heaven and earth overlapped. Unlike modern views that see mountains mainly as natural landmarks or recreational sites, ancient people regarded them as mysterious and otherworldly, often associated with divine presence, thunder, lightning, and encounters between God and humanity.
